Abstract
For few decades now, western scholars have acknowledged the value of hermeneutic interpretation of history. This interpretation, however, has remained unknown among Muslems for various reasons in spite of their established competence in the fields of coranic studies and literature.
It has become pressing conclusion now that the historical text cannot and perhaps should not remain a closed unit. This paper aims at suggesting a hermeneutic methodology specific to the historical studies of Islamic history and civilization, and intends to demonstrate how to apply this methodology to convey a more objective historical reality.
