Abstract
The issue of the textual thresholds, along with its relations to the core text, constitutes an important issue, theoretically and practically, in Modern Criticism. This is due to the fact that thresholds are parallel texts which are almost an essential component of the creative texts whether such texts are poems, novels, or plays.
This study aims to read some selected samples of Ibrahim Nasrallah’s novels: Almalhaati Alfilisteeniyya ‘The Palestinian Comedy’, Alshorofat ‘The Balconies’, besides his last novel, Kilimanjaro Souls.” This research claims that the thresholds of the selected texts have their impacts on the reader’s reception as they direct or lead readers to the distinct genre’s features which incite the reader to look for the texts’ symbols and which connote a relationship between the thresholds and the core text.
Key words: Textual Thresholds, The Novelistic achievement, The Title’s Threshold, The Parallel Texts.
