The Grammatical Terminology in Sharh al Mufassal by IbnYa’eesh: A Study in Text’s Effects

Abstract

This research aims to study the grammatical terminology in one of the most important grammar books, Sharh al Mufassal by ibnYa’eesh. Studying terminology as a part of a text makes scholars who study the text aware of the terminology’s value and accurately explain some aspects of its functions especially studying the terminology in forms and indices away from the text. The grammatical terminology, even though it is a special concept belonging to the study of grammar, is a linguistic concept that is influenced by the context in which it appears and it shows its value and its meanings based on its function in the text. In this article, we will try to explore how the text influences the terminology at both levels: structure and meaning.
