Abstract

Nizar Qabbani’s literary experience constitutes a model of “simplicity” poetics in the context of the Arabic modernism movement as opposed to “obscurity” poetics. This model has succeeded in removing communication obstacles with the audience at large. That is why this model has adopted a language close, in its lexis and rhythm, to everyday speech, though it never abandoned creative imagery that reflects an aesthetic, cheerful view of life and the world. This modernist, “different” example has represented a break away with many common aesthetic and intellectual conventions, responding, thus, to the concerns of contemporary realities and transformations.
