Urban Expansion and its Effect on the Uses of the Land at the Countryside of Al Saqlawiyah Township Abu Sedira County as Model

Abstract
The research dealt with the study of urban expansion against the agricultural land in the countryside of Saqlawiyah Township of Abu Sedira county.
The main aim of such research is to find out the uses of that land within that district and explaining the reasons behind the phenomena of urbanization expansion and trying to detect about the reasons which led to the great urbanization expansion in that land.
The descriptive approach was used in the research by analyzing the data which was used in the research, depending on the statistical technique for analyzing the change of times for the urbanization expansion in that land by using the percentage to show these changes.
In the research,it has been discussed the urbanization expansion during three periods in between 1977_2012.
It has been reached by searching the following results;
1.The urban expansion in all its forms was randomly towards arable land.
2.The agricultural land areas shrunk between the years 1987 to 2012 by a large margin reached (-16.22%)
3.The number of housing units increased significantly and reached the Percentage to 114% between 1987-1997 and 71% and between 1997 to 2012, resulting in a truncated a large areas of arable land and converted it to residential use.
