By reading “Ahmad abd al-Mu'ti Hijazi” poem “qitar al-janub” (the south train) and Mahmud Darwish's poem “bayt min al-shi'r”, “bayt al-janubi” (a verse of poetry, the home of the southerner), the present paper studies the structer of modern Arabic poetry, namely that of elegiac poetry .
It also discusses both poems as a kind of response and interaction of the tow poets to dunql's poetic experience.
