Turkey's Domestic Policy in Light of the Ruling Party Justice and Development (2002-2009) Economic Development and the Kurdish Question: Cases of Study

Abstract

The study discusses Turkey's domestic policy under the regime of the ruling party "Justice and Development" since it took power in 2002 until the year 2009, in which the Turkish Republic witnessed internal changes directly related to the reform and modernization focused on aspects economic, social and political aspects and a thoughtful approach, possess therefore the support of community and a clear and strong interest by specialists and those interested in the study of political systems.

The study is based on a basic premise that "there is a correlation between the political approach of the Justice and Development party in Turkey and between the interests of the state especially with regard to issues of reform and modernization and societal stability. To illustrate this , the study discussed the role of the ruling party in the area of economic development and the Kurdish question (as a case study), as both are being considered the priorities of the discussion and research in Turkey's domestic issues and in identifying the methodology of the political system to deal with the requirements of each. The study used both the function-based approach, systems analysis and content analysis approaches in order to clarify the elements relevant to the study.

Finally, the study concluded several conclusions among the most important are that there are many major players in Turkish political life, which have an impact on decision maker in the Turkish government, such as the military and the respect for constitutional rules of a secular state, and the preservation of one nationalism in Turkey, though it made many of the Positive aspects related to economic development, and in some of the issues related to the Kurdish question since the ruling party Justice and Development took power in 2002.
