Attitudes of the Listeners towards the FM Community Radio Station in Jordan

The objective of this study is to identify the views and attitudes of the listeners towards the FM community radio stations in Jordan. The study aims to examine the stature and the importance of The FM radio stations particularly to the youths listeners as a communication phenomenon in the Jordanian society, and to identify its role in the local community.

the study also aimed to explore the advantages and the disadvantages of the FM radio stations.

The study revealed that 83.6% of the respondents tune to the FM stations always and 10.2% tune to the FM station sometimes. Regarding the programs songs (Top ten) by 24.2% followed by the religious programs 17.8% and the service programs with a percentage of 14.2% and the dialogue and discussion programs 11.3% the contents and quiz programs 11.3% the news 10.9%.

One of the major findings of the study revealed that 34.2% of the sample tune to the FM stations for entertainment and as a time killer during their travel or commuting or while they are working.

50.9% of the respondents tune to the FMs. In the morning. While 17.8% tune to the FMs in the early evening 31.3% of sample said that the major motive for them to tune to the FMs due to its dealing with the issues, problems and the services of the local community.   

The study revealed that one of the major disadvantage of the FMs. is the numerousness of the advertising's and the commercials and the lock of the programs shedules dating up with a percentage of 60.9% while the major advantage of the FMs is the diversed  and balanced programs shedules with a percentage of 48.9%.

Concerning the programs the respondent care and prefer to tune regularly, to the program of the songs contents (top ten) on Amman net ranks first with a percentage of 31.85 followed by frankly with al-wakeel on Fen FM ranks the second with a percentage of 25.6%.
