Rawh Bin Zenba’a Al Juthami and his Role in Supporting the Umayyad Khilafa

Abstract:
Rawh Bin Zenba’a Al Juthami was a major tribal cgief in Bilad AL- Sham during the Umayyad era, playing a vital role throughout his Life.
This role had emerged since the first riot.He was among those who fought in Siffin to Muawtah’s party. Following Muawya’s reign, Rawh emerged as one of the major people upon whom Muawyah relied. His role had extended during Yazid Bin Muawyah’s reign to become one of the most loyal and supportive characters among the Shami leaders to Yazid’s Khilafa.
Following death of Yazid, the disturbances within the nation, and the emergence of Ibn Azzubair movement, Rawh plyed an active role in electing for Marwan Ibn Al- Hakam to be the new Khalifah during Al Jabiah Conference, where he sought him the support and assured his power . During the reign of Abdul- Malik, the role of Rawh turned clearea as he became one of the main Abdul- Malik’s consultants, and the most important political and administrative state’s figure, whe remained affective toward the end of Abdul-Kalik’s reign.
