Yarmouk University National Education Students’ Opinion Direction towards it is Majesty Jordan King Abdullah II’s Speech to the American Congress

Abstract

This field study aims at recognizing Yarmouk University students' attitudes towards His Majesty King Abdullah II's speech before the American Congress on March 7, 2007. The sample of the study included students enrolled in the National Education during the second semester of the academic year 2006/2007. Specifically, the study aimed at eliciting students' views towards the speech representing a unified Arab stance, the formal and civil Arab position from the United States' leading role in the world and the Middle East. It also investigated the issues and problems that confront peace in the Middle East, and the effect of the speech on the US congress members. In addition, the study elicited opinion regarding ways to rid the world of the dangers of terrorist ideologies. It also highlighted the role of the speech in lifting the siege on the Palestinian people, the meanings of terrorism, and the US internal, regional and international circumstances. [The study underscored any statistically significant differences according to college, gender and political orientation]. The study concluded that there was a big awareness by the students of the importance of the speech and its effect on the regional and international fields.
