Developing Internet Social Capital Scale in Jordanian Society

Abstract

This study aimed at developing internet social capital scale (ISCS) in Jordanian society, then, to reveal the content of two types of social capital (Bonding and Bridging) for internet users, Dmitri Williams scale’s was translated and applied on a sample of (281) internet users in the caves of university street in Irbid city.

Factor analysis was used, and loadings over 0.500 were accepted.  (13) Items were in bonding subscale and (18) items were in bridging subscale.  Principle components analysis developed (10) factors and reliability was (0.91).  The findings of the study showed that internet users have social capital (bonding and bridging), and there are no statistically significance of Gender, place of residence, level of education, working status, religion, age, and household income.
