The Role of Audio-Visual Mass Media in Cultural Development

Abstract
This study aims at investigating the cultural characteristics in Arab societies especially the Jordanian society. Also it tries to enhance the participation in the cultural life and to present the cultural cooperation between different peoples. Moreover the study tries to focus on the problems which obstruct the cultural development in the Arab societies.
To achieve the goals of the study, the researcher uses a descriptive analytic method. He makes a survey of the related literature and analyzes them carefully.
The results of the study show the importance of the cultural functions in all mass media such as presenting the scientific and technological development in the world, and illustrating its importance for the modern world. Also it shows how the mass media concern with the intellectuals and scientists in the world.
