Abstract

This research aims to shed lights and deepen the scientific outlook towards the place of Iran in the U.S strategic thoughts in the period spanning between 1993-2006. In introducing this research, the researcher did highlight the research importance, objectives and methodology. After that he quickly commented on the history of the American presence in the region and the development of U.S- Iranian relations. The researcher focused on three strategic platforms during the course of conducting this study. These platforms are the starting of dual containment in 1992/93 that coincides with the launching of the peace process in the Middle East. The second platform is the rise of the broader Middle East in 2004 and finally the U.S adoption of the New Middle East during the Israel’s war on Lebanon in summer 2006.
