Ayish Al-Hassan, Al-Hussin Bin Talal University, Ma'an, Jordan.

 Abstract

This study classifies reception of Hazim Al-gartajii into three dimensions: The psychological, the epistemic, and the moral.

The psychological emphasizes that the poetic rocess springs from the port's imagination the moves to the imagination of the receiver which causes understanding between the pictures of the poet and those of the receiver. Therefore his desires urge him to behave in a certain way which is an irrational, unreal movement.

The knowledge dimension enable the reader to realize that poetry offers an imaginative knowledge distinguished from that of philosophy or science. This one, through imagination, is able to touch the receiver.

The third dimension enables the reader to realize that poetry aims to achieve a moral plan for the receiver which forces him to beautify or distort through what is in the mind of the receiver.

This study relies heavily on theory of Hazim and those of other Muslim philosophers.

This study concludes with an epilogue, endnotes and references.
