A Reading in the Novel “The Rever in the Shirts of Winter”

Abstract
Hassan Hamid is one of the Arab Novelists who proved that the art of writing novels will continue to flourish in Palestine. His novel “The River with Winter Shirts” came as an advanced step in building the structure of the novel. More specifically, this novel is very close to the human soul in its language, its style and the names of the places and individuals it involves. This novel is a reservoir of lexical items which people used to use, of habits, traditions, trades and cultural types people knew and practiced. The novelist also let us know some sports, popular games, cultural and social rites which had their own names and particularities, in addition to a multilateral heritage in moreover he shed light on crimes inherent in the minds of the occupiers. He let us know the political social and cultural crimes. However, the political crime took up the biggest share. All these things were depicted in the language of the skillful narrator who is fully aware of the particularity of what he narrates.
