Abstract
This research paper substantively and artistically studies the Sea Letter by Ibn Hijja
Al Hamawi. This letter is considered an valuable historical and literary document chronicling the strife that occurred among the princes of the Mamluks, portraying the sea voyage and reflecting on the atmosphere and horrors of the sea. It also embodies Al Hamawi’s style that is based on Al Fadhli’s. The letter finally reveals Al Hamawi’s excessive interest in altawria (Periphrasis).
