Abstract
This study examines the methods of teaching vocabulary in French as a foreign language (FLE). The study is based on recommended methods of teaching vocabulary in French language as a first language. It deals with learning from linguistic and educational perspectives by focusing on reusing basic tools in teaching vocabulary such as polysemy and consistency. These techniques do not only help in achieving automatic acquisition of new vocabulary, but rather promote cultural and cognitive learning. They also contribute to the development of lexical and semantic skills of learners. Furthermore, the study presents the contributions of information and communication technology in learning vocabulary, to implement new practices of teaching.
The study concludes the importance of using the suggested method to teach french language vocabulary as a foreign language and the important role it has in connecting the vocabulary to its various usages according to the cultural course the foreign language emerges from.
