The Future Time in the Arabic Language: A Linguistic Study

Abstract

   This study aims to show the ways by which Arabic can express future time through examining such usages. Arabic has multi-abilities to express the future time, that it can express the future time by the infinitive forms, increased forms (augmented), some nouns (present participle and past participle) and constructions.  This study divides the future time in Arabic into eight patterns: the absolute future, the remote future, the recent future, the progressive future, the iterative future, and the perfect future, past in future and sequence of tense in future. The study illustrates the ways of negation and emphasis of future time in Arabic.
