The Epistemological and Philosophical Aspects of the Qualitative Method: Towards New Perspectives in Media and Communication Research in the Arab World

Abstract
We deal with certain problematic of communication using a specific methodology. This study suggests reconsidering the different approaches related to this methodology.
In order to reach a global methodology, the philosophical and epistemological foundations of the use of both quantitative and qualitative methods, must be explained and assessed. Furthermore, the study will help us to better understand the ambitions and the limitations of the current quantitative methods in media and communication research.
The paper proposes some analytical approaches to the qualitative method used in conducting media and communication research. It also highlights the drawbacks of representation, appropriation, and the use of new media in the Arab World.
