Sohrab and Rustum Tragedy: An Analytical Study

Abstract
This paper studies and analyses the story of Rustam and Sohrab which is the most famous and the strongest tragic story in the Persian poetic epic "Shahnameh" by AlFerdowsi in the late fourth century AH. In the story, the writer sheds light on the hopes and pains of the nation that dominated the globe for thousands of years. The study focuses on this story in that the young knight "Sohrab" was killed by his father, "Rustam" , without knowing each other. The writer focuses on the terrifying power of the acts of God- inevitable destiny- that people cannot escape with caution and deliberation. In addition, the study focuses on ALFerdowsi's literary genius side, not to mention the high status this story attained compared with similar ones in the world of literature as critics consider it one of the greatest stories of tragedy and the most exciting and powerful one.
