Abstract
This study investigates the ascetic view, its motives and reflections in the poems of Abee el- Atahiyah and Naser Khosro Ghobadiani In so doing their two books of poem have been studied to ascertain the difference in their ascetic views, which yielded the following results:
Their ascetic beliefs emanate from their religious and especially Islamic views. Naser Khosro portrays a more candid ascetic belief compared to that of Abut Abee el- Atahiyah because he used his poems to disseminate Islamic and religious teachings. His ascetic views are almost heartfelt, and are also realized in his behavior and actions. The reason lies in the fact that he was a religious person whose credo prevented him from hypocrisy and insincerity in his thoughts. That made him and his family to leave their country for Yomgan which helped him foster and insist on his credos. This immigration also kept him safe from his enemies.
Both poets, however, include wisdom in their ascetic views reflected in their poems. The subjects they use in their poems to show this ascetic view are: not being deceived by the physical world and belief in its imperpetuality, reminding oneself of death, and believing in destiny and hereafter.
